i think salinger was a little crazy...i mean like who in their right mind would stay in their house their whole life? so i don't really connect with salinger because when i do something good, i want someone to notice (i'm not being a prick, most people are like that too!) =) but salinger doesn't want to be famous at all...he feels ashamed when people praise him!
also holden seems a lot like the modern teenager. he is the 'bad boy' that seems to be so 'in' right now. I understand that he probably has mental issues too but i can def see why parents didn't want their kids reading it! Holden also seems like salinger because he just can't make relationships last, or doesn't want them at all. so thats bout it...i think ill go feed my fish now=)

Yeah, he was definitely crazy.
ReplyDeletePS Do you even know where your fish are? ;)
I disagree. I can kind of understand Salinger. Maybe he never wanted to be famous. And I can understand being ashamed of letting your pride take over when people praise you.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you claire, Salinger should accept praise for his book. I mean its not like he keeps trying to write more and more and be better than everyone. So he can at least take credit for what he did do.
ReplyDeleteI definatly agree Claire.Salinger should accept all the good things people have to say about his book. I also agree on how Holden is a bad boy and he just doesnt care. Really good connection Claire. I agree totally.
ReplyDeleteI think Salinger is crazy, but he was still a good writer, and that he is weird for not wanting to be praised for his work
ReplyDeletewell...i agree with being shameful but not with crazy. someone can be in the spotlight and not want to be noticed. its called modesty. but everyone who doesnt want to be noticed is crazy. and have you heard of how bad the paparrazi is now? of course it wasn't as bad then as it is now, but still, if you had a camera crew and reporters and whoever at your door every hour of the day, you'd get annoyed too!! and i think your fish may be getting a bit fat...:B
ReplyDeletei agree with you...about everything. he seemed pretty crazy and who wouldn't want all the attention after doing something good? =)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I think that he was crazy, I don't understand why he would want to stay in his house all of his life. I can't really connect to him either.
ReplyDeleteclaire i totally agree with you, he seems kinda crazy. And the way he right the book drives me crazy, he puts cuss words in random places
ReplyDeletei never even thought to make a connection to the failed relationships!!! And despite his talents, I do 100% agree that we was nuts. If you dont want to be famous, dont publish your book. I mean obviously he was a big deal, but wouldn't you think that after the book had been out for a good 20 years that his celebrity ( as far as people constantly wanting to interview him and stuff) would die down? Maybe he should have just let them interview him and stuff when the book first came out and then people would have left him alone later in life. Oh well. Too late now. Good job, Cliare!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you Claire. I think most people would want to be recognized when they do something good too! I dont really understand him either.
ReplyDeleteagreeeeed . why wouldnt he want attention for his accomplishments ?
